Start your day with a complimentary cup of coffee at the first home of legendary, Pulitzer prize winning playwright Tennessee Williams. Extensive efforts were made to restore the c. 1875 Victorian home to its original splendor, and this National Literary Landmark and Mississippi Landmark now serves as the Tennessee Williams Home and Welcome Center.

If it’s a classic Southern-style plate lunch you’re after, Café on Main fits the bill. The menu changes daily, but offers over eight entrees, including some of the best fried chicken around, a mouthwatering selection of homestyle sides, and a dessert menu that you would be remiss to pass on.
Huck’s Place is another favorite that serves up Southern fare with a Cajun twist in a cool, downtown atmosphere. Dive into the restaurant’s delectable and expansive menu that includes entrees such as savory shrimp and grits and po’boys, to gourmet burgers and a selection of lighter fare.
Afternoon
After lunch, head to Friendship Cemetery. Founded in 1849, the cemetery was the site of the first Decoration Day in 1866, which led to the modern Memorial Day celebration.
Poignant images of the mass loss of life in the Civil War are evident in this quietly inspiring landmark. Rows and rows of marble stones marking the final resting place of 2,194 Confederate soldiers cover the beautiful landscape.
Antique Shopping
If all of our resplendent antebellum mansions have left you wanting a piece (or two) of historic splendor in your own home, plan to stop in one of our treasure-filled antique shop. Magnolia Antique Mall was voted best Antique Mall by Mississippi Magazine, and is filled with an exceptional variety of period antiques and unique treasures.

A world-class dinner awaits downtown at J. Broussard’s. Here you’ll enjoy a delectable New Orleans-style menu in an elegant atmosphere. The second-generation family establishment uses only the finest fresh ingredients, many of which are locally sourced.
Take Sunset Stroll
Before retiring for the evening, take in the natural beauty with a scenic sunset stroll along the Columbus Riverwalk. The picturesque walking and biking trail is highlighted by a stately bridge situated over the Tombigbee River, which offers unforgettable sunset views.
