Webber repeats as Columbus Pilgrimage 5K winner

Chris Webber went back to back Saturday morning claiming the Columbus Pilgrimage 5K. The Columbus Christian Academy student set a quick pace right from the start and one by one his competitors fell back until Webber was well ahead of his teammates Glenn Misiak and Nate Parker who finished second and third. Kendra Sanders of Belden, Ms won the lady's 5K. Sanders was followed to the line by Carrie Shrock-Haggard of Philadelphia, Ms and Raychel Sanders also of Belden, Ms.

Greg Vaquero of Columbus set a blistering pace in the men's half marathon. His winning time of 1:20:22 bested second place finisher Dylan Allen of Tupelo, Ms by over two minutes. Third place honors went to Ivan Wood of Mooreville, Ms. Vaquero who is originally from Spain said he enjoyed the course layout and wanted to push the pace as hard as possible. Vaquero said he is looking forward to running the Market Street 5K next month. Columbus native Paul Lockhart who is 59 won the Grand Masters Division with a time of 1:38:01.  

Brittany Long of Columbus won the lady's half marathon by nine seconds over Kati Thornberry who is also of Columbus. Fran O'Neal of Tuscaloosa rounded out the top three.
