On the historic Emancipation Day celebrated throughout east Mississippi, student researchers from the MS School for Mathematics & Science celebrate local history on the anniversary of Emancipation in Lowndes County and neighboring communities. A performance with music and dramatic vignettes, the project has been featured in national publications and on HBO.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at Historic Sandfield Cemetery (College Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.)
